Thomas Edison State University to launch new competency based education program. Strut Learning is selected as its technology and service partner.
Washington, DC – April 16, 2018 -- Thomas Edison State University (TESU) has selected Strut Learning platform and services to help them create, launch and deliver the institution’s first competency-based degree program. This program will allow students who have already earned credits towards an AA degree to complete the degree and pursue a Bachelors degree or specialized program leading to a desired job and career.
Developed in direct alignment with New Jersey residents' needs, the competency-based program awards college credit based on a student’s mastery of skills, or “competencies,” rather than time spent in the classroom.
Thomas Edison State University provides flexible, high-quality, collegiate learning opportunities for self-directed adults. Established by the State of New Jersey and chartered by the New Jersey Board of Higher Education in 1972, the University was founded for the purpose of providing diverse and alternative methods of achieving a collegiate education of the highest quality for mature adults. TESU is one of New Jersey's senior public institutions of higher learning, regionally accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
Founded in 2014, Strut Learning partners with institutions to implement transformational education initiatives aimed at increasing adult learner enrollments. The rise of self-paced and competency-based education programs that target non-traditional students seeking opportunity in the skills economy demand new technical solutions that enable faculty to operate in this asynchronous environment.
The Strut Learning platform is the first next-generation learning platform built with the student at the center, rather than the course. It provides maximum flexibility and student support by actively augmenting faculty workflow to ensure maximum cognitive focus on tasks that advance learning. Innovative colleges and universities who recognize they must offer new kinds of programs select Strut Learning as their technology partner.
